Horry County police charged a Conway man with exposing himself to neighbors including children, according to a police report.

James Maurice Maguire, 60, of Conway was charged with indecent exposure after Horry County police were called at 11:30 a.m. Sunday to Mulberry Street in the Conway area, according to the report.

Maguire was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 4:04 p.m. Sunday and at 11:30 a.m. Monday he remained there pending a bond hearing, according to jail records.

Four children told police they were on a golf cart in the neighborhood when they saw Maguire standing at his front glass door naked staring at them, according to the report. A 47-year-old woman told police similar incidents had occurred in the past and they had reported it to the police.

The officer confirmed through dispatch that Maguire had been verbally warned about exposing himself through the door, according to the report. When the officer went to Maguire’s home they saw him walk by naked before he went into another room and returned to answer the door wearing a towel. Maguire declined to speak to police.

Another neighbor, a 53-year-old man, told police that he went looking for his dog and walked by Maguire’s home and saw him standing in the front door nude, according to the report. The victim said that incident occurred about six months ago.

Police took Maguire into custody without incident.
