A former Murrells Inlet minister was sentenced to life in prison without parole after being found guilty of molesting a boy who was once in his church youth group.
Troy Taylor, who led a non-denominational church in Murrells Inlet, received the guilty verdict after a three-day trial in Williamsburg County, said Third Circuit Solicitor Kimberly Barr.
Taylor was also found guilty of kidnapping, she said. His second sentence of life in prison without parole will run consecutive with the first.
Taylor received the stiff sentence because he had a previous conviction in Georgetown County on criminal sexual misconduct with a minor, she said. Two convictions for most serious crimes mean life in prison without parole.
