Police have arrested a man in connection with a Thursday shooting on Rittenhouse Road in the Socastee area of Myrtle Beach.
Corey Brown, 27, was arrested Thursday night for unlawful carrying of a pistol and sale or delivery of pistol to, and possession by, certain persons unlawful, according to records from the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Brown was on the scene of the Rittenhouse Road shooting in Socastee when an unidentified male victim was shot, according to a police report.
That victim transported himself to the hospital in a green SUV, according to the police report.
Brown then fled to the area of Pampass Drive and Strand Drive, according to another police report. In the second police report, the responding officer writes that “I was advised that the suspect had run to the area of Strand Dr and Pampass Dr after shooting another person.”
But Brown was not arrested in connection with the first shooting.
Police don’t know if Brown actually fired any shots at the Rittenhouse Road location, according to Horry County police spokeswoman Krystal Dotson.
“It’s kind of a big, messy situation,” said Dotson. “There was an altercation that started at one location and spilled over to the other location.”
A witness on Pampass Drive said Brown had put a gun to his head and threatened to kill him if he didn’t give Brown some shorts, according to a police report.
Brown told police that he needed the shorts because he had defecated on himself while being shot at by another unidentified suspect in a green Ford Expedition, according to a police report.
Dotson could not confirm whether or not the suspect in the green SUV near Pampass Drive was also the victim in the green SUV from the Rittenhouse road shooting.
