The U.S. 17 bridge over Kings Highway is closed Monday as the South Carolina Department of Transportation continues its work to rehabilitate the structure.
Officials suggest using 82nd Parkway in Myrtle Beach as a detour during the construction.
“Motorists traveling along this section of U.S. 17 are advised to use caution in the work zone and expect traffic congestion,” Robert Kudelka of SCDOT said in an email.
The bridge had been closed in March for the work and was initially scheduled to reopen to traffic on May 25. It was temporarily reopened in late May and early June as crowds saturated the area for events like Atlantic Beach Bikefest and the Carolina Country Music Festival.
Never miss a local story.
It will open permanently on June 25.
