A Myrtle Beach man operating a moped on S.C. 9 in the Longs area was killed Tuesday morning after a collision with a sports utility vehicle.
The man’s identity will be released once his family has been notified, according to Horry County Coroner Robert Edge, who said the crash victim appeared to be in his 40s.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which was reported about 9 a.m. on S.C. 9 in front of the Aberdeen Golf Course.
The moped and SUV were both traveling south on S.C. 9 when the driver of the SUV struck the moped in the rear, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The SUV driver was charged with driving too fast for conditions; however, the crash remains under investigation, according to Collins.
