Wicked Tuna 2, a second location of the popular restaurant in Murrells Inlet, is “on hold” while the restaurant group that owns the project opens two other eateries.
“Due to the opening of a new restaurant in Charlotte and American Tap House at Broadway [at the Beach], we put it on hold for another year,” Erez Sukarchi, one of the partners in the Wicked Tuna restaurant group, said.
The restaurant in Charlotte, Essex Bar & Bistro, opened this year, and American Tap House began welcoming Broadway visitors this spring. Sukarchi said the new Wicked Tuna will likely open in 2018.
The Wicked Tuna 2 is slated for 1901 North Ocean Blvd and is not oceanfront, but will still feature a view of the Atlantic as it sits across from a public park that allows a view of the ocean.
The building was planned to be 15,000 square feet, Sukarchi told The Sun News in 2015. Tungsten Corp. is the architect listed for the project on city documents, and a representative for that company could not be reached by phone on Thursday.
