United Way of Horry County, along with other statewide United Way organizations, is encouraging those affected by Hurricane Matthew to call the free 2-1-1 helpline.
The South Carolina 2-1-1 is a one-stop resource for finding assistance in local communities, according to a news release from the United Way of Horry County.
The organization keeps a database of a wide range of service providers, including support groups, community clinics, counselors, shelters, food pantries and many more South Carolina agencies, the release states.
Callers can reach the 2-1-1 hotline 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to get links to needed services.
Callers can also call 2-1-1 toll free at 1-866-892-9211, and the free service is available in multiple languages.
Agencies looking to help with Hurricane Matthew recovery can register with South Carolina 2-1-1 by visiting www.SC211.org, the release states.
For those interested in volunteering aid in disaster relief, you can visit www.getconnected.uwasc.org to register yourself or your group and get current information as to where your help is most needed.
Those who would like to make a donation to Hurricane Matthew recovery events can visit http://www.uwasc.org/hurricanematthew and designate that you would like your gift to go directly to Horry County victims’ needs.
