Myrtle Beach is potentially emerging as one of this year’s hot spring break destinations.
Yahoo Travel and USA Today have mentioned Myrtle Beach in their overview of this spring’s top getaways.
Myrtle Beach already had received the backing of Coed.com as the No. 3 ‘trashiest’ spring break destination this year for those looking for hard partying, up from No. 5 in the rankings last year.
Yahoo Travel readers named Myrtle Beach one of their top 25 spring break cities, along with the likes of Virginia Beach, Va., and San Juan, Puerto Rico. About 2,000 people were surveyed, and only 27 percent of them planned to take a trip for spring break. Of those, 35 percent planned to go to a beach or tropical resort.
The verdict on Myrtle Beach for spring break is still out in USA Today’s 10 Best Readers Choice award for Best Spring Break Beach Destination. Readers will pick the top 10 from a list of 20 destinations that includes Myrtle Beach; Atlantic Beach, N.C.; Virginia Beach; several Florida cities such as Daytona Beach and Palm Beach; and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Voting continues until March 16.
Yahoo Travel and USA Today mention Myrtle Beach’s 60 miles of beaches, as well as golf courses and attractions such as amusement parks as reasons for it attracting spring break travelers.
