A vacation rental website has named Myrtle Beach its top destination for the fall based on how much travelers will save on a place to stay compared to summer rates.
Myrtle Beach topped FlipKey.com’s list of the top five destinations to visit during the fall and save compared to prices during the peak season, based on the nightly prices listed on its website. Rates for vacation rentals in Myrtle Beach are about 43 percent less in the fall with an average of about $104 a night, compared to $182 during the summer, FlipKey says.
“Myrtle Beach is our No. 1 pick for shoulder season travel this fall, where you’re still looking at temperatures in the low 80s during September, which is plenty warm for sun, sand and beach activities,” Eric Horndahl, FlipKey’s marketing vice president, said in a news release.
Two other SC destinations made the list: Charleston at No. 3 and Hilton Head Island at No. 4. Two New York towns finished out the top five, with the Hamptons at No. 2 and Catskills at No. 5.
