Travelers thinking about a beach getaway searched “Myrtle Beach” on Yahoo more than any other beach destination during the past month, according to the search engine.
Myrtle Beach was the most searched beach town from late June through July, topping Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (No. 2), Panama City Beach (No. 3), Virginia Beach (No. 4) and Clearwater Beach (No. 5), according to Yahoo.
The rest of the top 10: St. Augustine Beach, Fla.; Cocoa Beach, Fla.; Rosemary Beach, Fla; Laguna Beach, Calif.; and Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.
Yahoo Travel also recently dubbed Myrtle Beach one of the “buzziest beach destinations,” based on social media.
The list is based on what Yahoo found on sites such as Tumblr, Facebook, Reddit, Twitter and YouTube, then cross-referenced that with travel sites such as TripAdvisor. Myrtle Beach’s buzz focused on stage shows and entertainment, watersports and restaurants.
