South Carolina is no longer among the top states in foreclosures, according to RealtyTrac’s latest report.
But even more notable locally is that Horry County, which used to be among the counties to lead the state in foreclosure actions, ranked in the bottom half of the list for August.
.Horry’s foreclosure rate of one in every 1,438 homes ranked 27th among the state’s 46 counties. The average rate statewide was one in 949 homes.
The average rate for the U.S. was one in 1,126 homes, RealtyTrac said. Florida led the nation with one in every 400 homes with a foreclosure action during August.
