‘Taste’ event to highlight restaurants, businesses
Taste of Surfside Beach will be held from March 21-28 with both restaurants and other businesses. Participating businesses will offer discounts, and discount cards will be available for purchase from Surfside Beach Town Hall and the town’s South State Bank offices.
The cost is $10 in advance, $12 on opening day. A goody bag and a list of participating businesses will be given with each discount card purchased. Proceeds go to the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

Soup dinner provides meal, handmade bowl
The Marching Methodists Bible Study Group will hold the Bountiful Bowls Soup Dinner from 5-8 p.m. March 25 at Little River United Methodist Church, 1629 U.S. 17 North. Participants will receive homemade soup in an original pottery bowl of their choice that they keep, along with homemade desserts and a beverage.
Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance; only 200 tickets will be sold. All proceeds go toward paying off the Life Center debt. Handmade quilted soup koozies also will be available for $5. All bowls were handmade and donated by potter Ardie Praetorius.

Whole Foods offering more kosher foods
Whole Foods Market will feature an assortment of kosher for Passover items from Kedem, a leading manufacturer and distributor of kosher foods, for consumers who seek all-natural, gluten-free and dairy-free for their Passover needs.
Kedem’s line-up of kosher for Passover products will be available at Whole Foods Markets nationwide beginning this month. They include Kedem Biodynamic Grape Juice, Rebecca and Rose Bakery Products, Gefen Apple Crisps, Zeta Oil, handmade Shmura Matzo from the Holy Land and more.
The closest Whole Foods Markets to the Grand Strand are at 923 Houston Northcutt Blvd. in Mount Pleasant and at 3804 Oleander Drive in Wilmington, N.C.
Oyster roast set for March 14 with food, fun
The 16th annual Shuckin’ in the Park Oyster Roast will be held March 14, from noon to 6 p.m. at Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner. The event also will have hamburgers and other food items, as well as children’s activities, entertainment and a cornhole tournament.
Admission is $3 in advance, $5 at the gate the day of the event, and children 12 and under are free. Buckets of oysters are $10 and serving begins at 1 p.m. Advance tickets are on sale at Old Santee Canal Park, 900 Stony Landing Road, Moncks Corner; cash, check and credit cards are now accepted.
