New Myrtle Beach happy hour spot taps into craft beer market

h.h.h. (Happy Hour Heaven) for April 3, 2014

THE LOCALE | Atlas Tap House

THE LOWDOWN | Beer fans listen up: If you like your beer on tap, a new bar in town might make you want to tap dance. Atlas Tap House has 25 beers on tap and specializes in beers from around the world. That’s where we went for happy hour this week.

You’ll find Atlas Tap House on Chester Street in downtown Myrtle Beach where The Sound Hole used to be located. Inside you’ll find a square bar, low and high-top tables, a pool table and a fireplace. There is also a large outdoor area with a number of tables as well as another bar. That’s where patrons can play corn hole.

As far a food goes, Atlas Tap House has a smoker to smoke chicken and pork. The menu is paper and you use a pencil to fill it out, similar to a sushi menu, but instead of raw fish, on this menu you’ll find items such as signature sandwiches and burgers and a build-your-own burger section.

Atlas Tap House focuses on craft beers and bourbons. As mentioned, the establishment has 25 beers on tap, including Duck Rabbit, Red Hare, Bell’s, Sweetwater and Shotgun Betty. The bar offers more than 60 beers in total, and more than 20 bourbons.

Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m. weekdays. Drink deals include $1.50 Pabst Blue Ribbon, $2 beer cans and $3 well drinks. There are more drink and food specials coming in the future.

TIPS | Look for future Service Industry Nights and corn hole leagues.
