A man who has been wanted in connection with a fatal shooting last month in Murrells Inlet has been arrested.
Saire Jerrel Castro, 22, of Myrtle Beach, has been arrested in Florida and is awaiting extradition to Horry County, according to a news release from the Horry County Police Department.
Castro was identified as a suspect early in the investigation into the death of 35-year-old Kevin Bowens. He was located on March 1, the night of the shooting, but escaped arrest.
On Monday Horry County detectives learned that Castro was possibly in Florida and contacted the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Lakeland Florida and the U.S. Marshal Service to help with his capture and arrest.
Castro will be formally charged with murder upon his return to Horry County.
