Front Street in Georgetown is closed to all traffic until July for a drainage project, according to Bill Johnson, assistant fire chief.
Construction is set to begin today in the portion between Fraser Street to the Wood Street intersection. Motorists and Residents should use Prince or Highmarket streets to King Street to access Front Street.
The closure is part of the installation of storm water piping for the U.S 17 drainage project, Johnson said. Other streets that are closed to traffic are Dozier Street from Front to Prince Streets and Wood Street from Leonard and Sons Shrimp Company to the Sampit River.
Additional street closings will be necessary as the drainage project continues.
