Agents with the State Law Enforcement Division are investigating the death of a man who was being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to Lisa Bourcier, Horry County spokeswoman.
Edward Richard Hone, 71, of Myrtle Beach was found unresponsive by jail staff at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and taken to Conway Medical Center for treatment where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room, Bourcier said.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said preliminary results from an autopsy indicate Hone died from natural causes. Final autopsy results are not yet available.
Hone was booked into the detention center at 6:18 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of criminal domestic violence.

Horry County Sheriff Phillip Thompson requested that the SLED officials conduct an inquiry into the incident, which is standard protocol for all in-custody deaths of inmates, Bourcier said. A preliminary internal investigation indicated that no foul play was detected.
