A Coca-Cola delivery truck driver reported a vehicle break-in Thursday in which about $5,000 was stolen, according to a report from the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
The driver parked the delivery truck in Withers Alley behind Ripley's Haunted Adventure, 915 N. Ocean Blvd., the report said. He said he left the truck around 1:30 p.m. to make a delivery to the break room at Ripley's and returned about 10 minutes later.
The driver said he noticed that the first slot door was raised on the passenger side of the trailer that contained the safe, according to the report. He said he noticed that the bank bag drop flap was missing from the safe.
About 16 bank bags and an estimated $5,000 were missing, the missing flap was found on a shelf, and the flap pins had been sawed through on both ends, the report said. The driver said the lock mechanism on both sides of the truck is left unlocked because they don't have keys to it.
