Potomac Nationals 14, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 9
Game recap | Potomac took a 5-1 lead through five innings and then blew the game open with a nine-run explosion in the sixth and seventh innings. The Nationals collected 15 hits and the Pelicans' fielding problems continued _ they committed four errors. Myrtle Beach scored six times in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough to avoid their 59th loss this season. The Pelicans recorded 14 hits, including six doubles, but they didn't have the same success early in the game that they did against Potomac's bullpen.
Stat of the game | 4 -- Though the Pelicans committed four errors in the loss, it still did not set a season high. They have committed five in a game three times this year, with errors playing a role in their recent struggles.
Star of the game | Potomac starter Tom Milone gave up just one run in seven innings, keeping the Pelicans at bay while his teammates put up runs. Malone scattered six hits to improve to 6-4 and lower his ERA to 3.62. Reliever Aaron Seuss gave up five runs in the ninth inning, but Martin Beno preserved Milone's win.
