A two car wreck has traffic backed up in both directions along U.S. Highway 17 in North Myrtle Beach at the Barefoot Resort Ridge.
The accident happened before 2 p.m. and left one car perched on its side and another with a smashed front end.
Emergency personnel are on the scene, and at least one person was seen being carried away on a stretcher.
Traffic in both directions is highly congested, and commuters are urged to find another route.
Jacqueline Caudill said she was driving her small black sports car south on U. S. Highway 17 when a larger vehicle pulled out in from of her from Premier Resort Bridge Road.
“All of a sudden that vehicle shot out in front of me and it was all over with, what could you do?” Caudill asked.
Caudill said her daughter and her boyfriend were in the car with her as the other, larger vehicle toppled onto its side.
Her daughter was transported to the hospital with a possible broken wrist, but otherwise the group was unscathed, she said.
Caudill said she did not know if anyone in the other vehicle had been seriously injured.
