Some pageant contestants choose singing as their talent. This area teen used her voice in a different way.
Miss Loris Bog-Off Festival Teen Deegan Hudson won the Tuesday Talent Preliminary in the Miss South Carolina Teen competition after she performed a ventriloquist medley.
Hudson, 17, picked up ventriloquism after her father died in 2009 because it was something that took her mind off of his death, she said in an interview with My Horry News.
She will compete in the next rounds of the Miss South Carolina Teen preliminary competitions at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, S.C.
The next preliminary competitions are held Wednesay and Thursday at 7 p.m., according to a news release.
The final competition will be Friday, when the new Miss South Carolina Teen will be crowned.
