In the early development of a junior golfer I want to establish some fundamental movement skills. One of those is learning how to disassociate your body. This means your upper body and lower body turn in opposite directions in the golf swing. In the backswing, the upper body turns with minimal lower body turn. Before the upper-body turn is complete in the backswing, the lower body turns back in the downswing. So one part is still going back and the other part is going forward. This creates the proper kinematic sequencing. There is a simple way to teach a junior how: by making a smooth skipping motion. We will go up and down the range tee.
