‘Run to the Sun’ fuels benefit
The 26th annual “Run to the Sun” car show, by Pee Dee Street Rodders, benefiting Children’s Miracle Network,National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Horry County Benevolent Fund and Grand Strand Miracle Leagues, will roll 8 a.m.-5 p.m. March 20-22 at the former Myrtle Square mall site, on Kings Highway, between 21st and 29th avenues North, in Myrtle Beach. Last year, proceeds totaled $102,000.
Admission is free for spectators, and car registration $45 – 8 a.m.-4 p.m. March 20-21 and 8 a.m.-11 a.m. March 22, available only at Sheraton at Myrtle Beach Convention Center, across Oak Street, at 21st Avenue North.

Women’s Hall of Fame induction
The Georgetown County Historical Society will have its fourth annual Georgetown County Women’s Hall of Fame Luncheon, noon-1:30 p.m. March 20 in DeBordieu Clubhouse, in DeBordieu Colony, on U.S. 17, between Pawleys Island and Georgetown.
The late Mabel Leffingwell Mercer Hamilton, a schoolteacher for about 30 years whose lifetime of community service for such causes as hospice, an Alzheimer’s support group, the Georgetown Garden Club, and the Service Over Self organization, will be the inductee for 2014. Brenda Stroup, former executive director of Tidelands Community Hospice in Georgetown, will give the keynote address.
Tickets are $30, and reservations are due at noon March 15 at 545-7020.
Hamilton (1912-2008) joins three other individuals in the hall of fame, one honored per year since 2011: Elizabeth Allston Pringle, Eliza Lucas Pinckney and Genevieve Willcox Chandler.
Visit the hall of fame in the newly relocated Georgetown County Museum, 120 Broad St., Georgetown, which is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays.
