Pelicans charity event
As part of the first day for 2014 single-game tickets, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Advanced-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, will have a Little League exhibition game at 6 p.m., with free admission, then at about 7 p.m., fans can take batting practice on the field in exchange for a $10 donation to the Grand Strand Miracle Leagues (448-7712 or www.grandstrandmiracleleague.com). Brookgreen Gardens, open 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. daily, on U.S. 17 between Murrells Inlet and Litchfield Beach, has two special programs on tap. Garden admission, which lasts seven days, is $14 ages 13-64, $12 ages 65 and older, and $7 ages 4-12.
