‘Jersey County Girl’ and ‘Genesis’
Two special plays are on tap this weekend.
The musical comedy, following an aspiring country music star trying to get past her New Jersey roots in pursuit of her dream, stars several Theater of the Republic veterans: Tishala Martinal – last seen onstage as Doralee Rhodes in “9 to 5, The Musical” – with Georgana Anderson Brown, Laura Flint, Patrick Miller, Mary Ann Randall and Stephen Williams. Senior dances step up
The Myrtle Beach Base Recreation Center ballroom will be a hub for a winter series of senior dances 7-10 p.m. every Friday through mid-April, except for Feb. 14.
DJ Ed Brown will supply the music on Jan. 10 and 24, Feb. 7 and 21, and March 7 and 21. On Jan. 17 and 31, Feb. 28, March 14 and 28, and April 4 and 11, DJs Jack and Rosalie Drust will coordinate the tunes. (More details on these dances at 570-881-0244 or email@example.com.)

Also at the rec center, 800 Gabreski Lane, close to Farrow Parkway and The Market Common, Rosalie Drust will provide the music 7-10 p.m. Jan. 11 for the monthly social dance by USA Dance Grand Strand Chapter 6024. Dino Capone’s School of Rock will have the graduation of four youth bands in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at House of Blues at Barefoot Landing, on U.S. 17 in North Myrtle Beach: Before the Black List, Falling Headway, Velocity, and Collision Course.
Children ages 8-18 auditioned in late summer for its Rockin’ Band Program and rehearsed for the past 12 weeks in preparation for graduation.
