The Chanticleers scored early and the defense did the rest.
On a corner kick three minutes into the game, Coastal Carolina's Rob Hunter crossed the ball to Matt Schroeder, who headed the lone goal of the contest as second-seeded Coastal Carolina beat seventh-seeded Radford 1-0 Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Men's Big South Conference Tournament.
Coastal will play UNC Asheville in the semifinals at 7 p.m. today.

Where was Rob Hunter?
That's what they had been asking in the South Carolina soccer community. After starring at Waccamaw High and the IMG Academy, Hunter accepted a scholarship to Furman and then, poof, he was gone.
His solid striking off the ball, his instinct on the pitch that had once opened eyes and stuffed scoring books had gone missing.

There were two positives for Zola Budd Pieterse at the New York City Marathon on Sunday: She finished in a personal best time and no one near her fell down.
Budd Pieterse, best known for getting tangled with Mary Decker Slaney at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, finished in 2 hours, 59 minutes, 53 seconds in only her third marathon.
"I'm really pleased because I ran under three hours, and that's what I set out to do," she said. "So it was great.

The last time you saw Zola Budd was probably more than two decades ago. All eyes were focused on her then. You might have watched on your TV.
It was 1984 at the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles when millions watched her collide with American runner Mary Decker in the 3,000-meter final.
That's what everyone remembers. That single moment. Decker tumbling to the ground, falling out of contention. Controversy. Boos.

CONWAYAs the Chanticleers stretched before a practice earlier this week, Coastal Carolina women's basketball coach Alan LeForce looked around in dismay.
How many days until the Nov. 14 opener against Erskine? Fifteen. How many players dressed for practice? Nine.
It will be difficult for the Chanticleers to match last season's hot start (7-0) if they can't get healthy in a hurry.

Scan the Coastal Carolina volleyball roster and you wonder how this band of underclassmen can be third in the conference.
There are just two seniors listed. With such a sparse population of elder hitters and setters it would seem logical to presume a void in leadership and experience exists. So just how are the Chanticleers winning? And they are winning a lot: taking seven of their last nine matches.
You start the investigation with junior middle hitter Jill Nyhof.
