A Spirit Airlines flight was diverted Friday to Myrtle Beach International Airport because the plane’s windshield was cracked, according to officials.

Horry County emergency officials had responded to the airport as a precaution for the flight, said Kirk Lovell, an Horry County Airports spokesman.

It was unclear where the flight had originated or where it was set to land.

When such an issue occurs, Lovell said it is “standard operating procedures” to divert the flight for repairs. The plane will be repaired and then resume its trip.
