One person killed in early morning crash in Georgetown County

A Murrells Inlet teen was killed early Friday in a single vehicle crash in Georgetown County, according to troopers with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

A 1994 Nissan 300 was traveling south on Wesley Road when it ran off the road and struck an tree at 12:05 a.m. Friday, said Cpl. Sonny Collins with the highway patrol.

Alexander Joseph Fedak, 17, was driving and was killed in the crash, said Paulette Radcliffe, a coroner in Georgetown County. He was pronounced at the scene and died of multiple trauma. A passenger was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment, Collins said. It was unclear what injuries the passenger suffered in the crash.

Both the driver and passenger were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, Collins said.
