Famous feuding families get W.Va. stage deal

The Associated PressJuly 18, 2014

— If you're a Hatfield or McCoy, the theater is a good bet this weekend.

Theatre of West Virginia's production of "Hatfields and McCoys" is offering discounted tickets to the stage show to descendants of the famously feuding families.

Friday night, anyone with the last name "McCoy" will be given a discounted ticket, while the same bargain will be offered to anyone with the last name of "Hatfield" on Sunday.

General manager Scott Hill tells The Register-Herald (http://bit.ly/1p1Ybi5) the idea was hatched after he said so many people approached him proclaiming their ancestry.

Head counts will be taken each night of the Hatfields and McCoys in attendance to see which family supports the theater the most.

The production is being staged at the Cliffside Amphitheatre in Beaver.
