A snake that got into an Horry Electric Cooperative substation caused a power outage for more than 1,900 customers in the areas of S.C. 544 and S.C. 31, according to officials.

The outage occurred about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Lake Ridge substation and impacted 1,977 customers, according to Horry Electric Cooperative twitter postings.

Power was restored about an hour later after crews learned a snake had come in contact with electronics in circuit 2 in the substation.
