A Columbia man who shot at a cook and attempted to evade officers after robbing a Waffle House in Cayce Saturday night has been arrested, officials say.

Rashaud Lee, 21, was arrested after robbing the Waffle House on Airport Boulevard around 10:50 p.m. Saturday, officials with the Cayce Department of Public Safety said in statement released Sunday.

Lee fired two rounds from a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol during the robbery, one of which was directed at a cook who was trying to follow him after he fled the scene, officials said. The second round was fired just as officers with the department arrived on the scene.

In addition, a K-9 tracking dog and officer from the Richland County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and helped track the suspect who had been located by officers near the intersection of Bay and Byron Streets.

The K-9 dog also led officers to a nearby storm drain where they were able to locate clothing and other items the suspect discarded as officers approached. The pistol was discovered in a nearby wooded area where the suspect was seen.

Lee was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center. He is charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
