Conway woman found dead inside truck submerged in Horry County pond

Horry County Fire Rescue officials recovered the body of a Conway woman from a submerged truck in a pond late Tuesday, accordng to authorities.

Rescue crews were called just before 9 p.m. Tuesday to a pond along Hoot and Hollar Lane, officials said.

Brenda Alford, 66, of Conway was found inside the truck and preliminary autopsy results showed she drowned, Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said Wednesday morning.

It was unclear why and how Alford ended up in the truck in the pond, but Hendrick said her death was not considered a suspcious.

Crews found a truck submerged in water at a pond on private property and found Alford inside the truck, according to Horry County Fire Rescue twitter updates.

Horry County divers, Horry County police, troopers with the S.C. Highway Patrol and others were called to the scene.

Horry County police detectives are investigating the manner of Alford’s death, Lt. Robert Kegler said.
