A Longs man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a sexual assault reported outside the Conway Wal-Mart last month, according to an incident report.

Antony Andrew Jefferson, 23, is charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor 11 to 14 years of age and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is being jailed at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $31,100 bond.

Police responded to the Wal-Mart at 2709 Church Street about midnight June 29 where a 14-year-old girl told police she had ran from her home with her boyfriend and said the pair accepted a ride with a man they didn’t know.

Jefferson, according to police, first drove to the 501 Mini-Mart and asked girl’s boyfriend to buy cigarettes for him. The boy said the clerk asked for his identification and would not allow him to purchase the cigarettes because of his age. His age was not included in the report.

Jefferson then drove to the Wal-Mart on Church Street where he parked the car, told the girl she could sit in the front seat and asked the boy to purchase a cigar, according to the report. The girl said each time her boyfriend came back with a cigar, he was sent into the store for another and that she started to feel uncomfortable when Jefferson asked her sexual questions. She said she tried to leave, but Jefferson held her arm and then fondled her.
