Newsmakers | Four Waccamaw High graduates become doctors

From submitted reportsJuly 6, 2014

Briggs Ahearn (from left), Chris Cerasaro, Wesley Welchel and Blake Burnett all graduated from Waccamaw High School.

Last month, four Waccamaw High School graduates completed their degrees from MUSC: Dr. Briggs Ahearn, M.D.; Dr. Chris Cerasaro, D.M.D.; Dr. Wesley Welchel, Pharm. D.; and Dr. Blake Burnett, D.M.D.

Briggs and Chris graduated from Waccamaw in 2005 and Wesley and Blake finished in 2006. Briggs, Wesley and Blake will begin their residency programs in July and Chris begins his dental practice locally. Many graduates of Georgetown School System have made major contributions over the years, but this may be the first time four graduates have become doctors in the same year. They were roommates for four years in Charleston.
