A photograph from Myrtle Beach by Benita VanWinkle, instructor of art at High Point University, was recently accepted into an international photo exhibition.
The photograph titled “Lesson at Myrtle Beach, S.C.” was one of just 27 selected for the “Harmony” exhibition at the PH21 Gallery in Budapest, Hungary.
VanWinkle took the photo on the beach near the Hilton Myrtle Beach Resort.
“Just being accepted into a show with hundreds of entries is humbling to say the least,” says VanWinkle. “I am just doing what I do, taking photos every day and putting them out there. It is awesome when someone thinks they are worth putting in a show.”
VanWinkle says art is another way people can extend kindness and embrace diversity, ideas and emotions. She says that is something she teaches all of her students.
“One thing I emphasize is my personal belief that we are not here for ourselves, but to use our skills and talents to help others,” says VanWinkle.
The exhibition will be held from July 1-22.
