The S.C. Department of Transportation is slated to start constructing sidewalks, crosswalks and curbing on First Avenue South between U.S. 17 and Bay Street in North Myrtle Beach Monday, said city spokesman Pat Dowling.

The project is aimed to create connectivity for pedestrian traffic from U.S. 17 to the Horry County Library and the Farmer’s Market on First Ave. S.

Construction is expected to last 60 days.

To avoid delays, motorists are encouraged to use Second Ave. S. to access North Myrtle Beach City Hall, the North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center and the Horry County Library.
