Man, wanted in homicide, found in Chester County

A man wanted in connection with a recent homicide in Myrtle Beach was arrested Wednesday in Chester County, deputies say.

Deputies, along with the State Law Enforcement Division, Chester Police and Myrtle Beach Police, found Meleke De’shawn Stewart at his home in Chester at about 2 p.m., according to a Chester County Sheriff’s news release.

A second suspect was found elsewhere.

Authorities said more details would become available Thursday.

Capt. David Knipes of Myrtle Beach police, confirmed that an arrest was made, but referred questions about the arrest to Chester County Sheriff’s office. Knipes expected details would be provided later.

The shooting the that arrest was related to was not clear late Wednesday.

On Saturday, 26-year-old Dexter Smith was found shot to death in the parking lot at Canterbury Apartments, where he lived. Police have charged Delshawn Anthony Davis, 29, of Conway with murder in that incident. Police also have issued an arrest warrant charging Akeem Akbar Young, 36 of Conway with murder in the Smith shooting.

Early this week police also found Alton Antonio Daniels, 34, of Shalotte, N.C. shot to death. His body was in his car near Ninth Avenue South and Yaupon Drive in Myrtle Beach. No arrests have been announced in that shooting.
