A Myrtle Beach woman was arrested Thursday after police were called to a convenience store for a robbery attempt, according to a police report.
Lavitra Martina French, 25, was charged with two counts of shoplifting with a value of $2,000 or less and resisting arrest after officers took her into custody about 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the 1300 block of U.S. 501, authorities said.
French was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail on $2,031 bond, according to records at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
It was unclear from the report if the charges against French, who was identified as a suspect in the report, were from the robbery attempt.
Officers were called to the Phoenix Mart at 1350 U.S. 501 for an armed robbery at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the report. Officers learned that French, who was identified by the store employees, came into the business and told them to “not move, press a button or call the police or I will shot both of you.”
One employee, a 68-year-old man, said he grabbed her arm because he didn’t believe she had a gun and she pulled back and ran out of the store without taking any money, according to the report.
