Horry County | Roberts defeats Gilland, on to face Frazier

June 10, 2014

Horry County Council District 7

With 100 percent of precincts reporting

Mike Roberts | 1,106

Liz Gilland | 610

What it means | Roberts, 61, of Conway, is an insurance agent who ran on three issues: improving roads and traffic; creating more small businesses and jobs; and protecting the citizens’ property rights. Roberts now moves on to the November election to take on long-time Councilman James Frazier.

What they said | “I worked my behind off. I’ve been working 12, 15 hours a day, sometimes 16 hours a day. Putting up signs, calling people on the phone... I’m still going to work hard. I don’t have any money, so I can’t outspend [James Frazier], but I can outwork him.”
