Conway family’s dog dies in house fire

The cause of a house fire that occurred Monday night in Conway remains under investigation, according to authorities.

Firefighters were called about 8 p.m. Monday to 1519 Hiland Ave., for the blaze and found the house fully involved with fire and flames showing, according to a police report.

Fire crews were told someone may be in the house, but then learned that person was at a rehabilitation facility and not home, according to the report. But the family’s dog did perish in the blaze.

Red Cross officials were notified to assist the family who lived in the home, according to the report. A home next door sustained some head damage.
