Myrtle Beach police investigate early morning shooting

A 21-year-old man is in police custody early Tuesday following a 23-year-old man being shot in Myrtle Beach, according to a police report.

Officers were called at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday to the 900 block of Blue Street for a shooting, police said.

EMS took the victim to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment, according to the report. Details about the victim’s injuries were not immediately available.

A witness told police he heard about six gunshots during the incident, according to the report. Officers found the Myrtle Beach man they took into custody at a house in the 900 block of Crimson Street.

The victim had fled to a nearby house following the shooting, according to the report. The shooting remains under investigation.

The name of the man in police custody is not being published pending formal charges being filed in the case.
