Horry County police are investigating a stabbing that occurred in the parking lot of an area church, according to authorities.

Officers found a 26-year-old man was stabbed twice about 10 p.m. Sunday near Bakers Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, police said.

EMS took the victim to a local hospital for treatment of the wounds, which included a stab wound to his chest and arm, according to the report. Witnesses told police that a 27-year-old woman with the man was meeting a former boyfriend when an argument occurred and the victim was stabbed.

Horry County police Lt. Robert Kegler said Monday the incident remains under investigation.
