A 26-year-old man and 19-year-old woman told Myrtle Beach police they wrestled with an armed man, who tried to rob and shoot them outside an apartment on Cedar Street, according to a police report.

The victims went to the police department about 2 p.m. Monday to report they were outside 100 Cedar St., with a 19-year-old man when the gunman walked up to the driver’s door, pointed a gun and demanded money, police said. The 19-year-old man had left the police department before the officer arrived and said he only wanted minimal police involvement.

The victims told police the gunman pulled the trigger and the gun clicked, but didn’t fire, according to the report. The victim said he opened his door and started to chase after the gunman.

The victim said the gunman fired three shots at him, which missed him, as he ran around the apartment building, according to the report. The victim said he tackled the gunman.

The female victim said she ran to help and jumped on the gunman’s back while the man tried to get the gun, according to the report. The victims said another man walked up and took the gun from the gunman, put it in his pocket and walked away.

The gunman was able to get away from the victims, according to the report. Officers searched the area, but didn’t find any evidence of a crime.
