Man wanted in New York and Georgetown arrested

GEORGETOWN POLICE — Georgetown Police

A man wanted in Georgetown and New York surrendered to police Monday night, said Georgetown police Capt. Nelson Brown.

John Henry Smith, who is also known as Javon Jones, is wanted in New York for criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of controlled substances.

Brown said Smith is wanted by Georgetown police for hindering a criminal investigation, providing false information to law enforcement, driving without a driver’s license, operating a vehicle without insurance and no registration, reckless driving and failure to stop for a blue light and siren.

Smith, according to Brown, has been living in Georgetown and has family in the area.

He is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center
