A Myrtle Beach taxicab driver is accused in connection with a woman’s rape.

Alqi Dhimo, 50, of Myrtle Beach is charged with criminal sexual conduct.

According to a Myrtle Beach police report, officers responded to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center on Thursday morning for a reported sexual offense and spoke with a woman who said she had been raped.

The woman told police that at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday she was walking near Hotel Blue on South Ocean Boulevard when a cab pulled up and the driver asked her if she needed a ride. She said she told the driver she didn’t have her wallet with her and was looking for her lost cell phone.

The driver told the victim he would help her look for the phone. The victim told police he drove around for about 10 minutes before parking behind two buildings. She said he then began to kiss and fondle her, at which point she said she told him to stop.

She said the driver then grabbed her by the neck, covered her mouth and raped her. She said the sound of voices nearby and his cell phone ringing caused him to leave the area and drive her to Captain’s Quarters.

The victim said she changed her clothes and contacted police.
