Myrtle Beach police are consulting the 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office about a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday, said Capt. David Knipes.

Knipes said Lou Carrieri, owner of Brooklyn Louie’s barber shop in Myrtle Beach fought with an acquaintance and shot him. The store owner has a concealed weapons permit. No charges had been filed Wednesday afternoon.

The victim has not been identified by the Horry County Coroner’s Office, but Barbara Negron said it was her brother William Negron, Jr.

Barbara Negron said William and Carrieri were friends, but argued frequently.

“I am heartbroken,” he said. “My brother had a heart of gold.”

Police responded about 8:30 a.m. to the shopping center on the corner of 34th Avenue North and Kings Highway.

Negron was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center where Horry County chief deputy coroner Tamara Willard said he later died.
