Circuit Court Judge Larry Hyman sentenced Herbert Jordan Richardson to 20 years imprisonment for the stabbing death of his roommate in 2013 Monday, said 15th Judicial Circuit assistant solicitor J. Stephen Grooms.

Myrtle Beach police responded Nov. 23, 2012 to an apartment on Chester Street where Raymond “Andy” Burkett was found with multiple stab wounds and a head injury, Grooms said. Burkett told officers Richardson attacked him while he slept. Burkett died at the hospital later that day.

Richardson, who was 33 when he was arrested, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.
