Two people are in police custody in connection with a burglary that prompted an email and text alert at Coastal Carolina University Monday, said Horry County police Lt. Robert Kegler.

CCU issued an alert about 12:50 p.m. saying a man and woman who may be armed and dangerous were last seen near the HTC Center on campus.

Within 20 minutes, the school sent another alert that said the pair were arrested. The campus was never closed or placed on lockdown.

Kegler said there was a burglary on Wake Forest Road. A man and a woman were arrested behind the Maple building on the university’s campus.
