Myrtle Beach man reports being beaten during robbery attempt

A 51-year-old man told Myrtle Beach police he was jumped by three men and robbed as he walked along Oak Street in the city, according to a police report.

The victim told officers that about 9 p.m. Thursday he was walking along Oak Street near 16th Avenue North when the men came out of a wooded area and hit him in the head, police said.

The victim said the men continued to punch and hit him and one of the men had a knife, but the victim wasn't cut, according to the report. The victim said he fought the men off and they left and ran back into the wooded area without getting any of his belongings.

The victim had a cut on his head and some bruising and was taken by EMS to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
