— Horry County Fire & Rescue is investigating a fire that was started in an abandoned home at the end of Friendship Lane that also burnt less than an acre of wooded land.

The fire occurred shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday and was put out in less than an hour, said Scott Thompson, assistant chief with the Horry County Fire Rescue.

“The volume of smoke was from the structure itself and not the wooded area,” Thompson said.

No one was hurt in the blaze.
