Three men are charged in connection with vehicle burglaries in Surfside Beach, said police chief Rodney Keziah.

Matthew Howard, 21, of Myrtle Beach is charged with five counts of auto burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony, pedestrian in the highway and providing false information to police.

Jarrett Leary, 21, of Myrtle Beach is charged with five counts of auto burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Travis Heil, 20, of Myrtle Beach is charged with five counts of auto burglary, conspiracy to commit a felony, petit larceny and public intoxication.

Keziah said officers were called early Sunday by a homeowner who confronted a suspicious suspect on his property.

Police learned more than 30 cars, which were unlocked, were burglarized. Keziah, on Tuesday, said a large amount of stolen property was recovered and evidence continues to be processed.

Among the items stolen was a handgun which police said was found when a grid search was conducted in the area between Fifth and 10th Avenues North from Dogwood Drive to Cherry Drive.
